win7 or win10 issue

Post by winston »

I have a 1T external hard drive full of mp3's. My winxp computer will recognize and play the files. However if I use a win 7 or win 10 computer I get the message that "this drive needs to be formatted. The volume does not contain a reconized file system." I hook it back up to a xp machine and it works fine. Is there a fix for this???
thanks Winston May

Sounds like the drive is formatted in "fat" instead of the newer "NTFS".

Here is how to convert it, if that is the case.
