Hi all,
So was lucky to get my hands on two 1501's and one 1503 speaker and two of them have some issues with buzzing/rubbing overtones. It is like a metallic high pitch buzz on some strings, mainly G and A (I tried on 6 string electric). The third works perfect as it is.
The 1503 did have the meltet foam issue which I cleaned up but it still gives off that noise ?
And the 1501 that buzzes actually still has the foam intact (I want to remove it though, to prevent issues later).
I tried adjusting the magnet slightly, as I thought that maybe during shipping the magnets could be slightly displaced and thus cause the coil to rub against the magnets.
I am base in Europe btw.
Any input would be awesome !

Not sure if you have read all the info on that magnet gap cleaning but it's critical to get all of the foam out of the gap and carefully inspect the speaker coil and clean it too. Mark the position of the magnet to speaker frame and put it back in a different location. That's all I know about them.

Thank you, the thing is that on both of the 1501's there is no foam issue. And one it still has some issues, which hopefully is just due to displacement of the magnet during shipping.Larry Dering wrote: 15 Feb 2026 6:03 pm Not sure if you have read all the info on that magnet gap cleaning but it's critical to get all of the foam out of the gap and carefully inspect the speaker coil and clean it too. But yes on the 1503 it could be some residual foam goo - thanks
