RIP Raul Malo

Post by Douglas Schuch »

Raul Malo has passed away after his long fight with cancer. The Mavericks, and in particular, his suave vocals as the front man, have been at the top my my playlists for a number of years now. My (now defunct) band covered a number of their tunes. Raul was only 60. He will be missed.

Terrible news; but, inevitable.

What a great musician.

Raul was one of the finest voices of his generation. It was my pleasure to hear him sing Moon River accompanied only by his own guitar back in the 90s. I was dreading this news. He was a special artist. RIP.

His COVID rendition of America's 'Ventura Highway' is amazing, as is all of his stuff, remember him on Fischell's Buddy Emmon's Tribute Cd doing Night Life? so good.

Me and my wife saw the Mavericks many times live and she always said that they were the best live show, Hands Down.

It's a sad day for music tonight, but his voice with go on forever!

Thanks for posting that Andy, one of my favorite songs, he had a knack for picking great songs to cover!
Regards, Craig
