RISGA Players Showcase This Saturday

Post by Jim Rice »

Just a quick reminder that we are having a Players Showcase on Saturday April 2 at the Tiverton VFW from 2:00 to 6:00.

The Players Showcase will be like our Annual Show but more laid back. Each player will have 20 minutes or so and can bring along singers or a whole band (as long as you have a steeler). We'll have a backup band available. We'll have some round robin jams too.

We still have a couple of slots available so if you want to play a set let me know. If you're in the area we'd love to see you. Come and join the fun.

We will have a blast! Some RISGA friends that attend Tiverton VFW Sunday night dances told me they will be there. Chris Caruso is planning to attend with his base and his pedal steel. Josh Bruffee will be attending as well.

Great to hear Manny! We're going to have a lot of fun!

Vinny Doyle will be there, as well as Chris Brooks and a new friend Dave Grafe!

I will bring a bass and probably a rhythm guitar if you guys need me. Not that great on steel to do any kind of instrumental or set. Maybe next time. But I plan on being there Saturday.

Huge thank you to all the steel guitar players who joined in to show us your stuff. We had a blast and we’re truly blessed with great players, singers, and a backup band that totally rocked it. Thanks to all the folks who came to listen and dance.

The jam at the end was a ball!

Hi Jim, I agree, This new RISGA experience was great. Thanks to the prep work from Elaine Ellis setting up the PA, drum machine, bass, rhythm guitar, and all-around directing. With Jim Rice as RISGA`s president, we go forward while so many other organizations have fizzled.
